has a new preservation program called The GOG Wishlist. It is as good as it sounds. You vote for your favorite video game to appear in their store and, with enough votes, your game will be added to their store. The reason this program is different is that there’s nothing else like it.
What Good Old Games is actually doing, in my opinion, is preventing people from pirating games. These so-called "ROMs" are doing more harm than good. It might seem like video game companies such as Nintendo are done with these games, but they are not. Looks can be deceiving because companies like Nintendo have been cracking down on gamers like never before. One reason is that they are bringing back their retro consoles, which contain their games. These companies have watched as people emulated their games, put them on homebrew consoles, and sold them at flea markets. This is possibly why these gaming companies are stopping people from engaging in these torrenting practices.
Even internet companies have gotten in on the action of stopping people from downloading ROMs by warning them not to visit these illegal sites to download ROMs, or their internet service will be disconnected. This sends a clear message that if you're torrenting, you're doing something illegal. It's no use arguing with these companies since they literally have the power to take away their services from you, which isn't worth it at all.
Sure, I was once the ROM-loving, torrenting individual, but not anymore. It isn't worth losing my internet over, and hopefully, you get the message. The message is simple: stop torrenting and stop visiting ROM websites. There, I said it. The blood is off my hands. It's worth paying for your games, so don't be too bothered about that retro game you once enjoyed. There are plenty of video games out there in the world. All hope isn't lost. Discover new video game developers and find them early. Don't always get your mind wrapped up in nostalgia because you might miss out on better video games that are available now. But if you're still a retro gaming head and don't want to move on, the GOG Wishlist is available. You might want to find a group of people who love the same games that you do and vote.
